Air Force Legacy: The Pioneer Years

In September 1994, I began a journey that defined my career, transitioning from the discipline of basic training to the intense technical rigors of an 18-week communications tech school in 1995. As a Cable Communications Systems Journeyman during the late 1990s digital revolution—a historic era where global fiber deployment surged dramatically—I mastered the complex arts of installing & splicing fiber, coax, and copper, paired with the sheer physical grit of operating & maintaining heavy equipment (Cable Reel Line Trucks, Trenchers, Backhoes, GPCs, etc) and climbing poles to build the military's critical infrastructure. Standing out in a heavily male-dominated career field, I took immense pride in proving myself as one of the very few female Cable "Dogs" at that time. My dedication to the mission earned me an Individual Achievement Medal and an Honorable Discharge in 1998, establishing the foundation of my technical leadership and resilience.
